Siesta Key Trolley – Here’s What You Need to Know

Looking for a perfect location for your Siesta Key getaway, with a convenient location close to restaurants and other amenities? Perhaps you’ll want to venture a little further to experience all that Siesta Key has to offer–and that’s where the Siesta Key Trolley comes in!

The service is a new open-air trolley and the best part is it’s completely free! Routes run Monday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to midnight. The classic-style trolley provides a fun and easy way to visit all the must-see spots on Siesta Key, connecting both ends of the island.

Forget the need to rent a car, sit in traffic, or search for a parking spot only to walk several blocks to your destination.

The trolley service travels the entirety of Siesta Key from the south end at Turtle Beach Park all the way up to Siesta Beach Park and into Siesta Village. Then the route loops around Canal and Calle de La Siesta, and picks back up to head south again.

The trolley takes this route every half hour during service times, and every 20 minutes during peak hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There are three designated stops on the route, but those hoping to catch the trolley between Stickney Point Road and Turtle Beach Park can flag down the trolley at any point—making it a perfect service for beachgoers, shoppers, and those who want to explore the many eateries offered on the island.

Step out from Sea Shell Condominium onto Midnight Pass Road, and catch the trolley to take you south to the beautiful Turtle Beach area where you can experience a day of water activities by renting a kayak or a paddle board and exploring more than 100 acres of protected waters where you can see dolphins, manatees, fish, and birds.

The south end of the key also provides great restaurants–from the casual indoor/outdoor eating experience at Turtles Restaurant that overlooks Little Sarasota Bay to higher end options. If you’re looking for a more upscale eating experience, head a little further south to Ophelia’s on the Bay to enjoy an elegant meal with a view of the bay.

Or, you can head north on the easy-to-use trolley bringing you to incredible Siesta Beach and plenty of restaurants and shops in Siesta Village. Try a crepe and espresso at Restaurant Bonjour French Café, hit up the Old Salty Dog for British Pub food and live music, or spend your late-night outing at the Daiquiri Deck for a relaxed atmosphere.

Whatever you choose, you’ll be able find the trolley conveniently and experience a fun ride to your destination. The free service provides a safe and easy transportation option to all of Siesta Key’s premier destinations.

The trolley service runs on all major holidays. It has three trolleys running along the route to keep things moving fast, and has been a long talked about concept by leaders in the community to reduce traffic congestion in the area.

So, grab everything you need for a Siesta Key adventure, flag down the trolley just outside Sea Shell Condominium, and enjoy the ride!
