Frequently Asked Questions

These are our most frequently asked questions from guests and potential guests.

Q: I’ve made my reservation, now what?

A: You will receive a confirmation email immediately after making your reservation. Within a few days of check-in, you will receive an email with the gate code, the code for the lockbox, and your door code. Be sure to check your junk folder if you don’t see it.

Q: What are check-in and check-out times?

A: Check-in Is 4 p.m. and check-out is 10 a.m. These times are strictly enforced on a check-in/check-out day due to the time required for our thorough cleaning process. If you arrive early, you may check in at the office, and you will be notified when your unit is cleaned and ready for you. Please DO NOT try to access your unit before receiving a call or text from the office – your code is not programmed to work until 4 p.m. We also cannot accommodate late check-out times because of the time we need to prepare our units for the next guests.

If your unit is unoccupied the day before you check in or the day after you check out, you may request an early check-in or late check-out at least one business day before your arrival. We will do our best to accommodate you but can’t guarantee availability.

Q: What do I do if I arrive after office hours?

A: Our office is open Monday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We are closed on Sunday. If you arrive after hours or on Sunday, a lock box by the office will contain your check-in information. Again, the code for the lockbox will be in the email you receive several days before check-in. If you do arrive late or on Sunday, please check in with the office in person the following day.

Q: What do guests need to do at check out?

  1. Discard open food containers and empty your trash and recyclables in the proper bins. There are trash chutes on each floor by the elevator, recycling bins are on the ground levels on both sides of the building.
  2. Place used towels in your laundry basket.
  3. Load and run the dishwasher before you leave.
  4. We are not responsible for items left in your unit. Please be sure to check each room before you depart.

Q: What is the cancellation policy?

  • Full refund for cancellations made 30 days or more before check-in.
  • All cancellations will incur a $75 cancellation fee charged against your reservation deposit. The Administrative fee (based on 5% of the total rental rate) is Non-Refundable.
  • No refund for cancellations made within 30 days of arrival.

We strongly recommend travel insurance to protect your trip from unexpected events.

Q: What is the minimum age to rent?

A: Our minimum age is 25 years old. The person paying for the reservation must be at least 25 and present their ID at check-in.  We cannot allow anyone other than the person on the reservation to check in without a written notification from the guest named on the reservation.

You will also need your vehicle’s make, model, and license plate number if you are parking a car.

We are a family-friendly complex, so please be considerate of other guests. Quiet time is 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Q: Does every unit have a designated parking space?

A: Yes, each unit has one assigned space. Additional vehicles must purchase a parking permit from the office for a $20 fee per vehicle per day. Vehicles without a parking permit will be towed. We have limited parking, and no visitors are allowed to park in our lot without obtaining a permit.

Please note: the height clearance in our parking garage is 6 feet. Please be careful when parking larger vehicles, as the low ceiling can damage the car’s roof. Sea Shell is not responsible for damage to vehicles. We allow gas golf carts, as we don’t have e-charging stations, but they are considered to be one vehicle.

No campers or RVs are allowed on the property. NO camping of any kind is allowed.

Q: Do you have EV charging?

A: We do not at this time. Please DO NOT attempt to charge your car in any of the 110-volt outlets, as they are not equipped to handle electric cars.

Q: Is there Wi-Fi?

A: Every unit has free, secure Wi-Fi. The password is printed on a label on the modem, which is located in the master bedroom or the living room.

Q: What additional amenities does the Sea Shell offer?

  1. A large, heated pool.
  2. Two gas grills in our covered Tiki Hut and two charcoal grills in the outdoor picnic area. You can reserve the grills in the office.
  3. Chairs and loungers on the beach.
  4. Coin-operated washers and dryers on each floor. Guests can purchase coins in the office.

Q: What amenities are included in each unit?

A: In addition to plenty of bath towels, which are usually stored under the sinks in the bathrooms, we provide all of our guests with a limited starter kit of soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. Please plan to purchase additional items as needed. There is a grocery store across the street and many supermarkets off the island. In addition, we provide:

  1. Six beach towels, which may be in a closet or under the bathroom sink.
  2. Hair dryers.
  3. Irons and ironing boards.

Some owners supply additional beach items at their discretion.

Q: Do you have beach chairs and umbrellas available?

A: We have upright chairs and loungers on the beach that are free for our guests to use. Some owners supply additional beach items for their guests. You can rent umbrellas, canopies, cabanas, and other beach items from Sammy’s Beach Bums at 941-725-5527 or on their website sammysbeachbums.com. They will set them up for you and have them ready when you arrive.

Q: Do you have baby equipment on site?

A: Most owners do not supply baby equipment. However, ABC Baby Supply & Beach Gear Rentals will deliver and pick up any items you may need. Call 941-929-1850 or visit their website abcbabyrental.com.

Q: Do you have an exercise facility on-site?

A: There is no exercise room on site, but Siesta Key Fitness Center in the Village offers weekly, monthly, and annual passes. Their number is 941-349-8500.

Q: What’s the best way to get around?

A: The free 77 Siesta Islander (formerly Siesta Key Breeze Trolley) runs between Turtle Beach and Siesta Key Village all day, every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. You can flag them down on either side of Midnight Pass Rd., or wait at one of the many trolley stops along the road.

In April of 2026, Sarasota County suspended service to the mainland due to budget constraints. We recommend checking out our Getting Around page for more information on transportation alternatives on the Key.
