Crescent Beach is just one of the three beaches comprising the barrier Island of Siesta Key. The other two are Turtle Beach and Siesta Key Public Beach.
Crescent Beach on Siesta Key’s Famous Sand
One of the features of Crescent Beach that makes it unique is the soft, white sands that stay cool year-round. Unlike most beaches, the sand on Siesta Key is 99 percent quartz. That gives it a highly reflective quality that keeps it from heating up even on the hottest days. The water in Siesta Key is also calm and clear most days. That makes it an ideal beach experience for kids or those who prefer to “float” rather than fight the waves.
Love to snorkel? You’re in the right place! Point of Rocks, just a few hundred yards south of the Sea Shell, is a unique rock formation that is a popular spot for snorkeling, fishing, and birdwatching. This natural geological feature bisects Crescent Beach and Turtle Beach, so you can’t walk between the two. However, the free trolley provides a shuttle between the beaches and to Siesta Key Village to the north.
No Car? No Problem!
Crescent Beach is an amazing vacation spot for anyone because of its convenient location. You don’t need to change clothes and load your kids – or yourself – in a car to get lunch, ice cream, groceries, or dinner. Just walk across the street. Everything you could need is just a few steps from the Sea Shell. That includes restaurants, souvenir shops, a grocery store, ice cream, mini donuts, happy hour, live music, and more. This part of Siesta Key is also a quieter, more secluded beach experience compared to the public beach. People of all ages, locals and tourists alike, enjoy the spectacular sunsets as the sun sinks slowly into the horizon across the gulf.
